Toddler Lead Teacher

Do you love the curiosity, energy, and personality of toddlers? We're looking for a caring, energetic Lead Teacher to guide our toddler classroom through one of the most exciting stages of childhood.

  • Teaching & learning

    • Plan engaging, age-appropriate activities using play, art, music, movement, books, and hands-on discovery

    • Introduce early language, literacy, and problem-solving through everyday moments

    • Observe and document each child's development and emerging skills

    Social & emotional growth

    • Help children name and express emotions, share, take turns, and resolve conflicts

    • Model kindness, patience, and positive communication; guide behavior in developmentally appropriate ways

    Classroom leadership & family partnership

    • Guide and support Assistant Teachers and Classroom Assistants; keep supervision consistent

    • Communicate warmly and professionally with families about routines, progress, and milestones

  • A warm, energetic teacher who's ready to get on the floor and play, understands that toddler behavior is a form of communication, and can turn everyday moments into learning. Someone consistent, observant, and collaborative — who families and teammates can count on.

    • At least 18 years old, with a high school diploma or equivalent

    • Previous experience working with toddlers or young children in a group child care or early childhood setting

    • Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices

    • Able to meet Virginia requirements for a classroom Program Leader/Lead Teacher by your start date

    • Able to pass required background checks and complete employment documentation

    • Willing to complete required child care, health, safety, and professional development training

    Preferred

    • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential

    • Coursework or a degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development

    • Previous Lead Teacher experience in a licensed child day center

    • Current pediatric CPR and First Aid certification

  • This is an active toddler classroom role. Candidates must be able to regularly get on and off the floor, sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and safely lift and assist young children, with or without reasonable accommodation.
